Mustafa Ammar: Reinventing Careers & Embracing AI Change
Meet Mustafa Ammar—an individual whose journey could easily be the plot of a captivating film. Our paths first crossed a few years ago, back when we were both pharmacists—he in Egypt, I in New Jersey. Despite the distance, a powerful bond formed, and we quickly became connected by more than just our shared profession. Our stories would soon take us far away from pharmacy.
Mustafa’s story is nothing short of extraordinary. After his days in pharmacy, he became Egypt’s diplomat in Beijing, a position that required him to teach himself Chinese. That alone would be impressive, but Mustafa didn’t stop there. He transitioned into the world of investment banking, raising a staggering $1 billion for Middle Eastern agriculture—a feat few could imagine.
But Mustafa’s impact didn’t end with diplomacy or finance. He turned his attention to writing and career development, penning books like Time to Move On: The 7 Career Myths and Don’t Live One Life: Mastering Multiple Careers and Income Streams. His insights into career reinvention and the importance of building multiple income streams are invaluable, especially as the world changes at lightning speed.
This is our third interview, and every time we talk, I’m more amazed by how relevant Mustafa’s message is. In January, he spoke about Outsmarting AI, and now, he’s tackling the even more pressing topic of reinvention and how to build multiple income streams.
Mustafa’s message is vital for today’s rapidly changing world, where AI is reshaping industries every 15 minutes. The urgency and relevance of his advice can’t be overstated. If AI and automation are going to change everything, then we need to stay ahead, keep reinventing ourselves, and create opportunities that can’t be easily replaced.
I’m deeply moved by Mustafa’s brilliance and dedication. His words aren’t just wisdom; they’re a wake-up call. Consider this my “slap” to you—think of Cher slapping Nicholas Cage in Moonstruck and yelling, “Snap out of it!” It’s time to take action and embrace reinvention.
